Wanted: New feet

Day two in good ol' London town saw me up at 6am and out the door by 8am. I think most of London was having a sleep in as I only saw a handful of people out.No counting the couple staggering home after what must have been a huge night and the man asleep on the pavement, surrounded by pizza boxes. Actually, he may have been dead but I had a train to catch and I didn't have my good samaritan hat on. He wasn't there later so I guess he wasn't dead, only dead drunk.
So, back to me...caught the tube at Notting Hill Gate and got off at Embankment. 4 people on the train...and after that, it was very quiet! I walked along the Thames crossing over one of the bridges to check out opening times of various places. Wandered across to St. Paul's Cathedral - wonderful- thought about joining the morning service for a dose of religion...but then thought, nah....took some photos, and walked back to the Globe Theatre. Awesome! Had a look at the exhibition then joined a tour of the actual theatre. It would have been great to see a performance - Macbeth is currently playing but was all booked out today so may see what happens when I get back from cycling.
Then it was a walk to the Tower of London and suddenly, there were people everywhere! The Tower was incredibly interesting and I spent a couple of hours exploring, climbing stairs, walking, walking, walking.
As I was leaving got asked to do a survey about my experiences. The woman was overjoyed I said yes...apparently she'd been there all morning but nobody wanted to stop. Feeling guilty about the possible dead man earlier and skipping morning service, decided to make amends. I had to answer a billion questions, and it seems that I enjoyed all of the bloodthirsty exhibits the most. Not hard to do, given the location. Didn't line up to see the Crown jewels. Once you've seen one crown, you've seen them all :)
Next stop...the Tate Modern. It was ok, for an old power station. A few interesting art pieces ...plus a lot of things the Receptions could have done better.
By now my feet were hurting...not a good sign, especially wearing sandshoes :(
Right...joined the queue for a River Thames cruise, the same one we did last year. Just to rest my tootsies.
Bloody hay fever kicked off at this point. Can't believe it! It's followed me across the globe. Need to find a chemist at some point.
Next stop was Westminster and surrounding areas before deciding to call it a day. Caught the tube at Westminster with 50 000 other people. It was hot and crowded and I was glad to get back to Notting Hill. Hobbled back to the not-the- real Hilton to collect my luggage and then walk a few blocks to the next hotel, The Blakemore Hotel, Hyde Park. Boy I was glad to get there. The room is a lot better than I expected...spacious...room for 3 sisters, and a spare :)
A few drinks in the bar while watching the tennis, then a quick bite to eat in the outdoor cafe, while watching the world go by.
Tomorrow - the goal is to find a chemist, a post office and off to explore...somewhere! Maybe purchase some new feet...
