What a very loooong flight this time around! It seemed to go on forever and forever. Iam hoping that I have won the 40 million in Lotto and that my next flight will be enjoyed in the business class section and not cattle class. The first leg of the journey to Dubai was quite turbulent. Glad I had an array of wonderful (prescription) drugs to keep me calm and not upchucking all over fellow passengers.
We finally arrived at Heathrow and had a relatively easy passage through customs. They let us in! Just goes to show that they let anybody in tl thd UK :)
We got on the Heathrow Express to Paddington and then navigated our way to Sussex Apartments just down the road. Of course, it wasn't that straightforward but using superior navigation skills of BIL1 (brother-in-law 1) and sister #1, we made it. I was the supporting act in the navigation exercise - saving my navigation prowess for my solo act later.
What can I say about our accommodation?? Well....it's central and handy. It has many flights of stairs most of which we had to climb with suitcases. It lacks a few things, like toilet paper and internet access. First world problems but frustrating all the same.
The weather on the first day in London was surprisingly warm...24 degrees...oh boo! Where's the cold weather?
Anyway...moving on...our first trip was to visit Sherlock Holmes at Baker Street. He wasn't home but some of his arch enemies were! The museum was quite interesting and well worth a look.
We had a lovely meal at an Italian restaurant before heading back to the apartment for an early night- the sofa bed was an experience and a half - it worked best by sleeping the opposite direction.
But it could have been worse I guess.
